Because of the volume of work the practice is currently not accepting new medico-legal instructions.

Instructions to undertake assessments are welcomed from solicitors. The practice produces around fifty Court reports a year, covering personal injury and employment litigation cases. Mark Westacott has given evidence in court, at Mental Health Review Tribunals and at General Medical Council (GMC) hearings.

Mark has also undertaken training in his role as an expert witness and has completed the Bond Solon Certificate in Civil Procedure Rules for Expert Witnesses and the Expert Witness Institute Certificate in Medico-legal Report Writing in Civil Claims. He is a member of the Expert Witness Institute and the Cambridge Medico-Legal Forum and undertakes regular CPD. Clients referred for an assessment are usually seen within two weeks following receipt of instructions and a report is produced within two weeks of this.

Psychological Treatment

The practice is able to undertake the treatment of people involved in litigation or employment proceedings. We have a special interest in treating trauma and PTSD and have considerable experience in working with people with these difficulties. We also provide consltuancy to organisations and employers on issues of mental health. This can involve training, employee back to work programmes or guidance for employers when managing employees who have particular difficulties. We work with a number of companies in the Cambridge area and also take referrals from HR departments for clients needing an assessment or treatment. Please also see the section on Therapy & Assessment.
