Dr Mark Conway Westacott

I trained as a clinical psychologist in Cambridge and have previously worked as a Consultant Clinical Psychologist in the NHS in Cambridge and Huntingdon and also lectured in clinical psychology at the University of East Anglia. Since qualifying in 1995 I have gained further training in cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), schema therapy, cognitive analytic therapy (CAT), psychodynamic psychotherapy, mentalization based therapy and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

I has previously been the Course Director of the University of East Anglia CAT course and I am an accredited CAT therapist, supervisor and Trainer. I am also accredited by the BABCP as a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist and I have extensive experience in providing this form of therapy as well as in supervising and training other therapists. I currently supervise a number of clinical psychologists across the region and also provide specialist clinical supervision internationally.

My treatment approach involves tailoring the therapy to meet your particular needs, using a broad range of interventions to help you move forwards as quickly as possible whilst also aiming to ensure that treatment gains are sustained beyond the course of the therapy. I am in regular supervision for all of my clinical work and have also had a number of personal therapies as part of my training.

I am a member of the British Psychological Society (BPS), the British Association for Cognitive and Behavioural Psychotherapies (BABCP), the Association for Cognitive Analytic Therapy (ACAT) and am registered with the government’s Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Practitioner Psychologist. I practice within the codes of ethics and practice of these organisations and I am involved in an ongoing programme of continuing professional development.
